It’s a great plus that you will be able to find parking nearby. If you love to meet new people and chat with strangers, then the friendly people in East Haven are here waiting for you. The low tide isn’t too bad for the area, since it’s a fairly rocky space. The water can get pretty deep before you know it, so you will want to look out for that. If you love to swim, then Cosey Beach offers a great beach swimming setting. You can park your car anywhere on Cosey Ave for free, then walk on down to the beach and set up your picnic. Again, most beaches share the coast of the Long Island Sound that New Haven sits on.Ĭosey Beach is perfect for a chill beach day. Cosey Beach – East Haven, CTĮast Haven is very close to Greater New Haven. The low tide makes it easy to walk across to Charles Island, and you won’t get stuck when the tide comes back. Silver Sands is also adding standing bathrooms, so you don’t have to do the porta-potty thing if that’s not your vibe. The tide at Silver Sands gets really low, so if you want to hike or walk along the beach that’s completely possible. Silver Sands has the perfect friends and family sort of environment going on, so you can definitely take advantage of that. The crowd is very diverse, and you will find a lot of people to make new friends with, even when you bring your own. Silver Sands is a very popular beach and very easy to access, just off the quieter side of I-95. It is one of the best, completely free beaches in the New Haven area! Milford is another suburb nestled in the Greater New Haven area. Other than that, West Haven beaches are the perfect place to explore. The low tides can go out pretty deep, so if you have young kids you should definitely watch out for that. Plus, the incredible Stowe’s Seafood is very close to the boardwalk, so you can walk on over once the sunset hits or start your beach day with a curated seafood lunch. So, if you like long walks on the beach, you’ve got one waiting for you here! The boardwalk is well maintained, and the landscaping is absolutely beautiful. So glad we could finally get to Lighthouse Point Park (Rating: 3.West Haven beaches are a little different because the boardwalk connects a string of many beaches that are independent of each other. We saw many out walking, the majority of dogs on leash. On this adventure Wilma especially enjoyed some rolls and was excited to see other visitors, hopeful for some attention. Unfortunately, dogs were not allowed on the beach, but Gus found a little area along the trail to enjoy some quick digging, Wilma joining in for a few. It has been a long time since I have been able to see a new lighthouse and was glad, I finally could add that to our adventures. We spent a lot of time circling the lighthouse and taking photographs. It was an unusually warm day for New England, almost heating up to 50…so bizarre! We walked around making sure not to miss one corner of the park. The sky was lovely, adding some good character to the day. I did not research maps online, so we just wandered with our eyes and snouts (haha). We began heading down a road and traversed a trail along the coast. Upon arrival we immediately located the Lighthouse in the distance. Lighthouse Point Park was one of several adventures of the day, but our only new site. I was excited to head off on a new adventure as we have mostly been visiting local favorites in recent weeks. I had been curious about this park, and the New Haven Lighthouse for some time and yesterday was the day. We had a simple adventure to Lighthouse Point Park. In the distance from the park, you can see views of downtown New Haven, and the Southwest Ledge Lighthouse. Lighthouse Point Park is an 82-acre park that includes: a beach, a carousel, a splash park, and the New Haven Light House, also known as Five Mile Point Light. Yesterday Wilma, Gus, and I adventured to Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven, Connecticut.
